Funeral services for Mr. Wayne Anthony Smith, Sr. will be held Friday, January 7, 2022 at 1 pm at Estill Walking Trail with burial in the Varnville Miracle Revival Center in Varnville, SC. Public viewing will be held from 4 to 7 pm in the chapel of Garvin & Garvin Funeral Home in Estill, SC. Wayne Anthony Smith Sr. was born on August 18, 1967, to Ms. Delores Wilson and the last Mr. Robert Smith. Wayne was educated in the public schools of Hampton County and graduated as a proud member of Estill High School Class of 1986. He was in the marching band under the leadership of Denzel Taylor.
Wayne's work ethic was very strong, and he had an array of career endeavors. Wayne worked at the Estill Fire Department for 7 years and as a truck driver for Southern Wine & Spirits for 10 years until his health began to fail him. His career then transitioned to the mortuary business where he worked for Garvin and Garvin Funeral Home and Legacy Funeral Home of Estill, SC, as well as a driver for Patterson Mortuary Transport Services. Wayne entered eternal rest on January 1, 2022, at his residence.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his wife Mrs. Charlene Cohen Smith, of the home; children, Latavia (Antonio) Duncan, Shacovia Green, and Wayne H. Smith, Jr. of Estill, SC, Jaquan M. Smith and Da'Quadre L. Greene of Ridgeland, SC.; mother, Delores Wilson of Estill, SC; mother-in-law, Rosa M. Swinton of Pineland; 16 grandchildren; sisters, Wanda Smith, Julie (Willie) Ling, Judy (Andrew) Simmons, Vonzetta (Kenneth) Strong, Vanessa (Russell) Thompson, Katie Wilson, Betty (Charles) Hosendor; brothers, Marion Wilson Jr., Ray Riley, and Harold (Gloria) Wilson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Denzil Taylor, Donald Harvey, Rosa Fuller, Aundrea (Jerome) James, Sharome (Andea) Robinson, John (Jamie) Bush, Teresa (James) Brantley, Cergio Adams, Joseph (Rosalyn) Mikell, Tyron (Albertha) Mikell, Keith (Stephanie) Mikell, Alfreda Mikell, and Dora Mikell; aunts and uncles, Lillian Brown, Rosa Lee Brown, Annie Richardson, Rosa M. White, Trudell Smith, Marie Adams, Lui Mae Johnson, Louise Hightower, James Benjamin Cohen, Robert (Keysha) Singleton, and Charlie Gray; God-mother, Deloris Odom and Anzalette Wright; special friends-brothers for life, Al Green, Abby Doe, Illya Odom, Chauncey Solomon, and Tyrone Lewis; special cousins, Debra Ling, Ricky (Chevelle) White, Rina (Juan) Miller; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and sympathizing friends.
