Funeral services Teacher Sarah Fair will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at
Bethel Baptist Church with burial in the Furman New Church of Christ Cemetery in
Furman,SC. Public viewing will be held Monday, August 8, 2022 from 4 to 6 pm in the
chapel of Garvin and Garvin Funeral Home. Teacher Sarah Fair, daughter of the
late Richard and Sarah Housey III, was born on March 9,1953, in Hampton County,
South Carolina, and on August 2, 2022, entered eternal rest.
Sarah attended public school in Hampton County, South Carolina. She was
employed with Ridgeland Hospital and Richland Nursing Home for several years;
where she worked as a dietary staff member and was promoted to dietary
manager. She was a hard worker and was employed with the Ridgeland
Correctional Institution. She was a loving and kind person, always willing to help.
With a kind heart full of compassion, she had a gift for cooking and baking. She
was known for her red velvet cakes and many other delicious sweets and food.
Sarah was joined in holy matrimony to James Fair Jr. She was a loving mother and
a great woman of God who loved the Lord. She became a member of Furman
New Church of Christ in the late 70s and attended Church of the Word Healing
and Deliverance. She leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted
husband, James Fair Jr. of Pineland, SC; three children, Jennifer Thomas Gadson of
Pineland, SC, who cared for her in health and sickness; Michelle N. Fair of
Beaufort, SC; John (Breanna) Fair of Pineland, SC. 13 grandchildren: Lakisha
Slaughter Ricky Moton Jr. of Beaufort, SC, Thomas Gadson Jr., Tiffany Gadson of
Jacksonville, FL, Sarahlynn Gadson of Columbia, SC, Jonathan Fair of Beaufort, SC,
Jhi'Shon Fair of Effingham, GA, Makayla Fair of Pineland SC, Juel'z Fair, Radric Fair,
John Fair Jr., Kingston Fair, and Johna Fair of Ridgeland, SC. Four sisters Eura Lee
Russell of Estill, SC, Charlesetta Housey of New York, NJ, Renice Beckett of
Macungie, PA, Jannie Davis of East Orange, NJ, and one brother Arthur Housey of
Encino, CA; three sisters in laws Sarah Ager, Carrie Fair of Pineland, SC, and Annie
(Arthur) River of Middleton DE.
