Obituary

Funeral services for Reverend Sammy Jennings will be held Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Lovewell Baptist Church with burial in the Porter Cemetery in Hardeeville, South Carolina. Public viewing will be held Friday, March 18, 2022, in the chapel of Garvin and Garvin Funeral Home in Estill, SC.

Reverend Jennings was born August 19, 1965, to the late Martha Lee and Norman Grant in Estill, South Carolina. He departed this life on March 12, 2022, after a long illness.

Rev. Jennings was educated in Hampton County Public Schools. At an early age, he joined Lovewell Baptist Church in Estill, SC. He later joined Bethlehem Baptist Church in Hampton, South Carolina.

Reverend Jennings became an Assistant Pastor at Gillison Branch Baptist Church in Pineland, South Carolina under Reverend Benjamin Burrison, Sr.  He was also the pastor of St. Mary's Baptist Church in Girard, Georgia. He was employed as a skilled painter, and he also worked as a maintenance engineer for Jasper County School District.  He retired after many years of being a self-employed contractor.

He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Lakieshie Robertson on August 1, 2005.

Reverend Jennings was proceeded in death by his parents, Martha Lee and Norman Grant; grandmother, Elizabeth Gordon; sister, Shirley Riddles and his brother, Willie Jennings.

He leaves to cherish his memory: His wife, Lakieshie Jennings; Children: Shawn Floyd of Rincon, Ga, Shawntrel Floyd of Hampton, SC, Orlando Floyd of Barnwell, SC, Akennia Jennings of Columbia, SC, Samyetta Jennings of Hampton, SC, Jantadia Sanders of Beaufort, SC and JaMya Jennings of Hardeeville, SC. Siblings: Kenneth Gordon of Estill, SC, Arleen Blake of Conyers, Ga, Thomas Grant of Estill, SC, and John Fitzgerald Grant of Atlanta, Ga; Brother-in-law: Barry Waiters of Hardeeville, SC;  Aunt: Lanna (Ed) Scott of Estill, SC; Uncle: Harrison Gordon of Estill, SC; 4 grandchildren; host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends, including a special niece, Marilyn Jennings of Atlanta, Ga.
