Deacon Sam Sanders was born in Hampton County on May 24, 1942. He was the son of the late Lester and Edna O. Sanders. He was employed by ID I Estill, SC. as a mechanic. He was a Past W.M of Steepbottom Lodge 300 Estill, SC
At an early age, Brother Sam Sanders joined Sandhill Baptist Church in Scotia South Carolina. He loved his church and church family dearly. He served as a Deacon until his health began to fail.
On June 10, 1961, he was joined in holy matrimony to the Late Maggie L. Brown Sanders, and to this union six children were born. David, Sam Jr., Gregory, James, Edna and Clara.
On Sunday, January 17, 2021, Brother Sam Sanders heard the call of God saying, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant; enter thou into the joy of thy Lord, sit down my servant and take thy rest."
He leaves to cherish his loving memories: four sons, David (Mayda) Sanders of Charleston, SC, Sam (Daisy) Sanders of Estill, SC, Gregory (Richetta) Sanders of Gig Harbor, Washington, and James Sanders of Estill, SC. Two daughters, Edna (Tony) O'Banner, and Clara Sanders of Estill, SC. Brothers: Lester (Retha) Sanders, Johnson Sanders, of Estill, SC Clifford (Bertie Mae) Sanders, Joe (Sadie) Sanders of Hampton SC. Musa (Queenie) Latif of Columbia, SC and Harold (Valerie) Sanders of San Diego, California. Sisters: Rosa Lee Taylor of Hampton, SC and Ethel Dandy . Eleven grandchildren, Ten great-grands.
Visitation will be from 5pm to 6pm on Friday evening in the chapel of Garvin-Garvin Funeral Home of Estill, South Carolina.
