Funeral services for Mr. Richard Lee Roberts will be held Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 11 am at Goodwill Baptist Church with the burial in the church cemetery. There will be no wake on Friday evening. Public viewing will be from 3 to 7 pm in the chapel of Garvin and Garvin Funeral Home. Richard Lee Roberts, fondly known to many as "Lee Lee," or "Red," was the son of the late Leroy and Willie Mae Roberts. Lee Lee was born September 29, 1947 in Allendale County and entered eternal rest on August 25, 2015 at Hampton Regional Medical Center in Hampton, SC.At an early age, Richard joined Thompson Chapel C.M.E. Church and attended along with family and friends. He was educated at Estill Training School in Estill, South Carolina. His occupations included: truck driver, railroad laborer, and general skilled worker, until he became disabled. On December 21, 1968, Lee Lee was joined in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Lillie Mae Williams. To their union, five children were born: Laveda, Lorenzo, and Chandra; Tonya and Vanessa preceded him in death at an early age. Lee Lee was very witty and extremely strong-willed. He will always be remembered for his humorous nature. He enjoyed celebrations and other gatherings with family and friends. Richard Lee Roberts will be forever remembered in the hearts of his life-long love and friend, Lillie Mae Roberts, his children Calvin (Triesje) Gordon, Ruth Mayner, Laveda (Illya) Odom, Lorenzo Roberts, and Chandra Brooks. Step-daughter, LaTosha (Alex) Grant. Grandchildren- Joshua (Sheena) Smith, Roderrick (Jackie Ann) Roberts, Calvin Gordon, Tyler Odom, Daja Smith and Jayden Brooks. One sister, Marie Bryant. Adoring step-grandchildren – Tatyana Buxton, Maliek Grant, and Alex Grant; Sister-in-laws – Jessie Mae Taylor, Drelta Harrison, Regina Brown, Alzenia Murphy, Candice Roberts and Patricia Roberts. One Brother-in law, Verdell Williams. Lee Lee was blessed to have two dedicated cousins, Lucille Bostick and Gloria Stanley and a faithful friend throughout the years, Dessie Rollin. A very special daughter, Wanda Gordon. God-daughter – Drusilla (Ray) Mims and two God-sons Randy Creech and Raynaldo Best. Two adopted sons, Vincent (LaGenia) Dixon and Tracy Johnson. An abundance of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and other family members and friends. Garvin and Garvin Funeral Home is in charge of services.
