On the sunny day of August 1, 1963 in seaport city of Savannah, Georgia, Willie Mae Taylor gave birth to her second daughter, Myrtle. Myrtle's adoptive parents were Mr. Peter and Mrs. Elizabeth Drayton of Estill, South Carolina.

At an early age she became a member of the Mt Olive Pentecostal Church. She also attended First Estill Baptist Church. She was educated in the public schools of Hampton County, South Carolina and a graduate of Estill High School.

Our greatest memory of Myrtle was her love for family gatherings and her laughter that seemed to fill every empty space with joy.

We the following are grateful to God for blessing our lives with Myrtle: three sons, Marcus Drayton of Columbia, SC, Jamario Drayton and Bashair Drayton of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren: Amaya Grant, Amariana Drayton, Jamonte Drayton, Bashair Drayton, Jr., and Denise Pearson; brothers, Thomas (Rosa) Drayton, John Lee Drayton, Anthony Taylor, and Jeremiah Taylor of Ft. Washington, MD; two sisters, Gena P. Taylor of Savannah, GA and Sharon D. Brantley of Houston, TX; aunts, Dora Bolton and Edna (Roger) Brown of Savannah, GA; two uncles, Stephen Taylor, Jr., of Durham, NC and Bernard Taylor of Savannah, GA; special niece/caretaker, Sharon Drayton; special friend, Rena Mae Blake; as a mother, Charlotte Carr; grand-aunts, Carrie (Lawrence) Reynolds of Savannah, GA and Buelah Jones of Jacksonville, FL; and a harvest of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
