Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Brooks Black, 99 years old, will be held Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 11am at Thompson Chapel CME Church with burial in the Crossroad Cemetery. Public viewing will be held Friday, April 22, 2022, from 5pm to 7pm in the chapel of Garvin and Garvin Funeral Home in Estill, SC. Mrs. Black was born in Allendale County to the late Rev. William Maner and Martha Gibson Brooks on September 14, 1922. She departed this life on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at her residence. She was a member of Thompson Chapel CME where she served faithfully in many capacities. She was also a member of the St. Mary's Club and the Good Samaritans.

She leaves to cherish her memories: A devoted grandson: Darrell Dublin of the home. Six great-grandchildren: Jeamond Dublin, Kiawanna Williams, Andrew Williams, A'reus Dublin, Jaiyah Dublin, and Dominick Warren. Nine great-great-grandchildren. Four siblings: Mary Frances Miller, Juanita(Dr.E.B.) Palmer, Shirley(John) Johnson, and William Maner Brooks, Jr. A devoted caregiver-Queen Allen and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
