John Henry Roberts was born in Hampton County on March 31, 1942 to the late Lovell and Martha Roberts. For many years, he worked in pulpwood until his retirement. He was a member of Thompson Chapel CME Church in Estill, South Carolina.

John was faithful to his family and friends until his health failed. He died on May 11, 2018 at the Bayview Manor nursing home after a long illness. Two sisters, Minnie L. Fields and Mahalia Roberts and three brothers, Lacy, Jaycee and Lovell Jr. Roberts preceded him in death.

He is survived by his loving wife: Dora L. Roberts of Estill,SC; two sisters: Rosa L. Scott of Lena, SC and Cardelia Roberts of Savannah, Ga.; two brothers: Willie C. (Dorothy) of Estill, SC and Arthur (Shirley) Roberts of Savannah, Ga.; four sisters-in-law: Ivertia Roberts of Patterson, NJ, Margaret Smart, Betty Odom and Nettie Warren all of Estill, SC; two aunts: Dorothy (Charlie) Simms of Savannah, Ga. and Ida Jenkins of Tampa, Fla.; one uncle: Willie Lewis of Fairfax, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
