Varnville
Graveside services for Mrs. Geneva Meade will be held Saturday at 12 noon at Goodwill Baptist Church Cemetery. Public viewing will be held Saturday morning from 10:00 am until 11:30 am in the chapel of Garvin and Garvin Funeral Home. Geneva Meade, affectionately known as "Genny" was born on September 15, 1947 to Elizabeth Weaver and Mitch Weaver, Sr in Estill, South Carolina. On March 17, 2022, Genny departed this earthly life and went home to be with the Lord. Geneva was educated in the Hampton County public school system in Estill, South Carolina. In 1966, she moved to Philadelphia and worked as a Teacher's Assistant for the Philadelphia school board for nearly 30 years. In 1971, she alongside her sisters and brothers founded the Family Gospel Singers. They sang the praises of the Lord for many years. Being the youngest of 13 siblings, she had her challenges, but she ventured on. Waiting for her in heaven are her parents; her eldest son, Ricky Weaver; sisters, Florrie Raymond, Lillian Hutchinson, Pearl Dwight, Mary Sanders, Leola Young, and Ella Nora Sanders; brothers, John Newton Herbert Sanders, Mitch Weaver, Richard Sanders, John Sanders, and James Sanders. She leaves to mourn: her husband, Jewitte Meade; daughter, Lynn King; sons, James King and Willie Gill; one sister-in-law, Helen Sanders; two daughters-in-law, Barbara Weaver and Venobia Gill; grandchildren, April Horton, Tyree Weaver, Ricky Weaver, Elizabeth Bradley, and Kimora Gill; and a host of great grands, nieces, nephews and cousins.
