Obituary

Funeral services for Deacon Nathaniel David will be held Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Sandhill Baptist Church Cemetery. Public viewing will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2022 from 3 to 7 pm in the chapel of Garvin and Garvin Funeral Home in Estill, SC. God is the giver of life. On March 7, 1950 in Hampton County, South Carolina, the late Richard and Rosa Lee Ferguson David was blessed with their second son, Nathaniel David. He transitioned on Friday, October 21, 2022 at his home.

Nathaniel aka "Doc" graduated from Estill Training School in 1968. He was employed by Wade Line and Dr. Tire for over 40 years. He became an ordained Deacon at Sandhill Baptist Church in 1983. He was the President of the Good Hope Deacon Union for 26 years. Nathaniel was Past Master of Beulah Lodge #88. He also was one of the organizer of the Shirley Volunteer Fire Department for many years.

Nathaniel met and married the love of his life, Margie Taylor David. To this union, they were blessed with three wonderful children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Rosa Lee Ferguson David.

Nathaniel leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 51 years, Margie Taylor David of the home; two sons, Tyrone (Tammie) David, and Kelvin (Lolitha) David, both of Walterboro, SC; one daughter, Shanta Hutchinson, of Nixville, SC; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two godchildren, Laquan Jenkins, Jr and Ja'Kiarah Aiken; two adopted sons, Joe and Robert Bostick; six sisters, Richardean (Freddie) Dortch, of Paterson, NJ, Nettie (Jessie) Tyson, of Tarboro, SC, Rosetta King, of Brooklyn, NY, Jannie Heyward, Lorraine (Isaac) White and Teresa (Jerome) Jones, all of Scotia, SC; five brothers, Andrew David, of Norwalk, CT, John (Brenda) David, of Scotia, SC, Darrell (Shelia) David, of Estill, SC, Kenneth (Elease) David, of Scotia, SC; one uncle, March Ferguson, of PA; two aunts, Louise Henderson, of Townsend, DE and Jannie Benjamin, of Long Island, NY; four sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Joe) Brantley, of Estill, SC, Betty Smith, of Brooklyn, NY, Barbara Jean Smith, of Irmo, SC and Carolyn Taylor, of Stanford, CT; three brothers-in-law, Jackie (Diane) Taylor, of Pasadena, MD, Harry (Linda) Taylor, of Gifford, SC and Clarke Taylor, of Grovetown, GA; 2 special sons, Barry Hutchinson and Morece Hamilton; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and persons he touched throughout his life.
